BA and MA in the Humanities
I studied human culture, thought, and expression in subjects like literature, philosophy, history, and linguistics, which really broadened my horizons. Studying these disciplines wasn't just about reading books and writing essays — it helped me become a better thinker, sharpen my analytical skills, and fuel my curiosity about the human experience.
This gave me a solid foundation for the interdisciplinary approach that would later define my career path in UX design and research.

Doctoral researcher at Oxford
Doctoral researcher at Oxford
I relocated abroad to pursue a research position at Oxford University.
I approached my studies with an interdisciplinary focus, writing my thesis in classical philology with a strong influence from reception studies. This meant examining how literary works are received, interpreted, and understood by different people across time and cultures.

Here I deepened my interest in understanding human behaviour, prompting further exploration into psychology and neuroscience.
These academic endeavors laid the groundwork for my later fascination with interpreting and contextualizing user experiences in UX design.

Research impact evaluator
Research impact evaluator
During my PhD, I took opportunities to expand my skill set through various roles.
One that stands out is my experience as a Research Impact Evaluator, where I assessed the societal significance of research projects, in the context of the UK's Research Excellence Framework (REF) evaluation scheme.
That's how I learnt to look at research with a different, broader perspective, and also kept practising analysing data, identifying trends, and communicating findings.

Operations manager
Working at a start-up in Berlin, I wore many hats – part problem-solver, part team player, all-around operations guru! I gained lots of experience with cross-functional collaboration, and every interaction was a chance to learn and grow.
But it wasn't just about numbers and processes, it was about people too. Collecting feedback and insights fueled our drive to craft better experiences, to make a real difference in the lives of our customers.

UX design course
UX design course
Around this time I discovered the world of UX design, and immediately recognised it as a place where my passions for psychology & understanding people, research, storytelling, and creating aesthetic experiences could come together.
I took a course to learn the fundamentals, design principles, and the ins and outs of UX design methodologies.
I quickly realised that my background in research and the humanities wasn't just a nice-to-have, but rather a game-changer! It gave me the ability to empathise with users, analyse data, and craft experiences rooted in real user needs.
Suddenly, it all clicked. My journey from academia to UX design wasn't just a leap — it was a natural progression, a culmination of everything I'd learned and loved. With every wireframe and every prototype, I felt a little more at home.
